Thank you in advance for your time and energy as you check out our latest “5 Minute Ministry Update.” God has been at work. It is my pleasure and honor to be able to share some of what He has been doing with you today.

Hope of the Hadzabe

In January, our team of two Tanzanian nationals and three Americans journeyed into the bush of Tanzania. This was the fourth time our team has traveled there in the past five years. Over the years, we have seen God begin to truly move among these people. There are now many Hadzabe believers. In one village, these believers have even begun to meet on a regular basis as a church. God is truly moving.

As many of you know, our mission among the Hadzabe has had two primary focuses. The first focus is to share the Gospel with all who will listen, disciple those who believe, equip them with the Word of God, and encourage them to share the message of Jesus with others. Our hope is to see an indigenous movement of the Gospel arise among the Hadzabe. Our vision is to see Hadzabe people sharing the message of Jesus and discipling other   Hadzabe people.  The second focus is to translate the Word of God into the Hadzabe language (Kindiga).  On this trip, we saw the advancement of both major goals.

With the help of Emmanuel, Miriamu, our Tanzanian co-missionaries, and the Holy Spirit, we added a Hadzabe translation of Acts, James, and eight Psalms to the collection of Scripture that is in Kindiga. The Hazabe Bible currently includes twenty-one Bible stories telling the big-picture story of God, as well as Mark, Acts, Colossians, James, and eight Psalms.

Additionally, there are fourteen Hadzabe worship songs which praise Jesus and teach lessons from Scripture.

We also, by God’s Grace, did an intensive week long discipleship training for believers in a village called Ohmboy. At the end of the week, four Hadzabe believers decided that they would take on the challenge to carry the Gospel to their Hadzabe brothers and sisters.

God did way more than I can tell you here. He moved and brought six Hadzabe men who had never heard the name of Jesus into his kingdom after they heard the Gospel. He broke down numerous barriers to the mission. He even healed the sick! God moved again and again. Thank you to all of you who prayed and gave financially. God used you to advance his kingdom.  Hallelujah!

Prayer Requests:

  • Please pray for the four Hadzabe missionaries, pictured here to the left. Pray that God will continue to lead them to share the Gospel and that the land of the Hadzabe will be transformed!
  • Please pray for the Hadzabe as a people group. Pray that God would provide for their needs, that they would see miracles of the Holy Spirit, and that the Holy Spirit would reveal to them even more of the truth of the Gospel.
  • Please pray for Taylor and I as we discern the next steps God would have us take vocationally.
